Although checks that you send to out-of-state companies are no longer required to be returned to your bank, some still practice that policy. As a result, General Aviation (GA) airplanes are used to ferry canceled checks across America.
Bankers and financiers use GA to visit
construction projects they've financed so that they can monitor
how the loan proceeds are being used. They also rely on GA to reach
businesses and municipal government offices in outlying and remote
areas.
Bankers also use GA as a basic form of transportation to attend meetings and to move staff between banking facilities spread throughout large regions. In doing so, they take advantage of America's nearly 5,300 public-use community airports.
